A Reckoning

A Reckoning is the fourth studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Kimbra. It was released on 27 January 2023, following her departure from Warner Records, and was her first album as an independent artist. The album was released through Inertia Music and [PIAS], with Kimbra working with Ryan Lott of Son Lux as her co-producer. The album explores anger, conflict, vulnerability, personal change and the process of confronting difficult emotions. Its sound combines atmospheric electronic production with elements of pop, R&B and hip-hop. Kimbra described the record as an examination of the moment before a person reacts to a difficult situation, and how that energy can be channelled. The album was promoted by the singles "Save Me", "Replay!" and "Foolish Thinking". A deluxe edition, released on 8 December 2023, added three songs: "Different Story", "Possession" and "The Robin".
